Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information Cher's Closet collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers the app and your account.
Who we are
Cher's Closet is a personal wardrobe and styling app, operated from Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Privacy questions, requests, or complaints: hello@cherscloset.app.
What we collect
Account information: your email address, your name if you give one, and your password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and we never see them in readable form.
Your wardrobe: the photos you upload, such as garment photos, inspiration images, and screenshots, along with the details you add, such as item type, colour, brand, size, notes, and wear history.
Your styling content: outfits you save, wishlists, trip plans, packing lists, your size profile, avatar and appearance preferences, and any feedback you send us.
Basic usage information: which screens and buttons are used, so we can see what is working. This is looked at in aggregate to improve the app.
Why we use it
To run the app for you: storing your closet, building outfits, assembling packing lists, producing colour and wardrobe insights, and letting you share a wishlist or a look when you choose to.
To keep your account secure, and to reply when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your photos for advertising.
Photos and AI
Some features use an AI service (Anthropic) to help with styling: describing a garment from its photo, suggesting outfits, analysing colours, drafting resale listings, or planning what to pack.
When you use one of those features, we send only what that request needs. Usually that is the photo or the garment details involved, together with the relevant part of your closet.
AI output is a suggestion and it can be wrong. Please use your own judgement, especially before buying, selling, or altering anything.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers who help us run the app: our hosting, database, and storage provider (Base44), and the AI provider used for styling features. They process information on our behalf.
Affiliate partners: if you tap a shopping link in the app, the retailer or its affiliate network may record that visit. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on our hosting provider's servers, which may be located outside Canada, including in the United States.
When information is handled outside Canada, it may be accessible to authorities in that country under its laws.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open.
If you delete your account, it can be restored for 30 days in case you change your mind, and is then permanently removed. Records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons are the exception.
Deleting your account removes your wardrobe records and our copies of your photos. Anything already shared outside the app, such as a wishlist link you sent to someone, is beyond our control once it has been viewed or saved.
Your choices and rights
Download your own copy of your data at any time from Settings.
Delete your account and everything in it from Settings.
Keep your profile private, and choose whether one of your looks may appear on our public pages.
Ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing hello@cherscloset.app. We answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies and browser storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you logged in and to remember small preferences, such as a tip you have dismissed.
Affiliate partners and retailers may set their own cookies when you click through to them. Those are governed by their policies, not ours.
Children
Cher's Closet is meant for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Security
Your closet is private to your account. Other users cannot see your wardrobe, outfits, wishlists, or trips unless you deliberately share a link.
No online service can promise perfect security. Keep your password to yourself, and contact us if you think someone else has access to your account.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update this page and the date at the bottom. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
